Alice Scott: BIO
As both a painter and a jeweler, I am interested in making everyday objects sacred. When I make jewelry, I use ancient symbols from all over the world so the wearer can connect to a long tradition of talismans and amulets. When I paint, I am drawn to subjects that we often see as mundane. I like to paint in a way that makes people notice the beautiful tones and shapes in everyday things.
Alice Scott was born in Virginia. She grew up traveling the country doing art fairs with her parents. She was inspired by all the artists she met to become an artist herself. She attended Rhode Island School of Design and graduated with a degree in Jewelry Design. Today she lives in Asheville, NC where she paints and makes jewelry. She still goes off to art fairs around the country, but now she sells her own work.
