Artist Statement

My drawings and paintings are of representational flora and fauna that are re-contextualized in shallow picture planes, highlighting their visceral physical attributes. The work functions as a metaphor for my interest in and understanding of masculinity and gender roles, as well as the inherent desire for coupling.
