Rachel Leibman: BIO

Rachel Leibman is a collage artist from Montclair, NJ. She has exhibited her collages in many solo and group shows in New York City and New Jersey including the Monmouth Museum, the Morris Museum, Arts Guild New Jersey, the George Segal Gallery, and Broome Street Gallery in Soho. Her work is included in the Art Collection at The Hebrew Home at Riverdale as well as numerous private collections. Leibman lives and works in San Francisco, CA.

For my collages, I use small pieces of paper taken from images of ancient manuscripts to create colorful, detailed pictures. For each collage, I consciously use manuscripts that represent different religions, languages and styles. The collages pay homage to those who came before and celebrate the uniqueness of our varied heritages. At the same time, they illuminate the human interconnectedness and cultural melding that defines our global society. For me, this cultural amalgamation characterizes my secular and humanistic worldview.
